Medicare Supplements are also known as Medigap policies (the terms are used interchangeably). Supplements fill in the gaps that Original Medicare leaves behind. Supplements are called “Plans” and there are several Plans available, for example, Plan G, Plan N, Plan F and more! If you decide that a Medigap policy is right for you, you’ll want to consider adding a Part D prescription drug plan (I recommend it, even if you aren’t currently taking expensive prescriptions).
Parts vs. Plans
When you’re first learning about Medicare, the difference between “Parts” and “Plans” can seem confusing!
- There are 4 Medicare Parts (A, B, C and D)
- There are several Medigap Plans (the prices vary depending on what “gaps” they cover – the more they cover, the higher the monthly premium).
- It’s easier to explain these over the phone or in person – just give me a call.
